K.V. Rao, President of Commissioner
A masters in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, India, he has over 23 years of senior management experience in leading enterprises in the FMCG, Healthcare, Infocomm, and International Trade sectors.
Mr. KV Rao was formerly a Director at International Enterprise Singapore (formerly Trade Development Board of Singapore), and had led the Capability Development initiatives of the Board which helped local enterprises to internationalize. He is currently the Director of JOil (S) Pte. Ltd.
He has proven strengths in corporate strategy and in directing international growth and development of enterprises. He is also experience in setting up JVs, strategic alliances in developing countries and in building global businesses.
Peter Chia, Commissioner
An engineer by training, he has years of experience in technology management especially on IP, business development and operation.
He is currently Chief Operating Officer of Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory and Director of several technology start-ups, including JOil (S) Pte Ltd. He is also a member of Temasek Holding's Life Science Investment Team.
Srinivasan Sriram, President Director
Mr. Srinivasan Sriram is an MBA in Finance and has about 20 years of in-depth experience in various areas. He worked with the Tata Group in India for more than 14 years and was seconded to JOil (S) Pte Ltd as the General Manager (Strategy & Marketing) in 2009. Mr. Srinivasan Sriram is currently the Chief Finance Officer of JOil (S) Pte Ltd. Before moving to JOil and concurrently holding this position in PT Monfori Nusantara, Sriram was heading the biofuels division of Tata Chemicals Ltd., and was instrumental in setting up various agro-climatic research sites for Jatropha in India and Africa. He also played a lead role in setting up a bioethanol plant in India and in participating in various international projects. His expertise is in finance, strategy and marketing.
F. Suhartono Wijoyo, Director
Mr. F. Suhartono Wijoyo obtained his Bachelor degree in Forestry from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 1987 and Master of Science degree in Quantitative Forest Genetic from North Carolina State University, USA in 2000. He has worked in East Kalimantan for developing improvement programs for planting large scale plantation of Acacia mangium, Paraserianthes falcataria, Gmelina arborea, and Eucalyptus sp. from 1988 to 2003. In 2003 to 2006, he was a Senior Researcher in Riau who was responsible for tree improvement program of Acacia and Eucalypts on mineral and peat land. He was also responsible for seed collection of Eucalypts and Acacia natural stand in Nusa Tenggara and Papua. He joined PT Monfori Nusantara in 2011. He is also the Director of PT Bioforest Indonesia and PT Jatropha Oil Indonesia.
Dr. Hong Yan, Director
Dr. Hong Yan has both biological science training (PhD, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, 1989) and business training (MBA, National University of Singapore, 2001). He moved to Singapore from US in 1993 and joined the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology as a postdoctoral fellow and has led an independent research group in Institute of Molecular Agrobiology since 1998 (later in Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory) on translational plant research areas like biotech crop development, forestry biotechnology, herbal medicine, bioenergy plant and new technology development. He has 8 patents and many peer reviewed publications. Technology development in his group contributed to the formation of two spin off companies. He is also an adjunct Associate Professor with Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He served as a Director for Bioforest Pte Ltd (a company on tropical forestry biotechnology) from 2006 to 2009. He is also the Chief Scientific Officer of JOil (S) Pte Ltd.
Dr. Srinivasan Ramachandran, Director
Dr. Srivivasan obtained his PhD in Biochemistry with Plant Molecular Biology as specialization from University of Idaho, USA under the guidance of Prof David Oliver. In 1993, he joined Prof Nam Hai Chua’s group at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, later at the Institute of Molecular Agrobiology, Singapore.
He headed the group of Rice Functional Genomics at Institute of Molecular Biology since 2001 and since 2002 at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory Limited, Singapore. Since 2007, he led a research group at the Center for Bioenergy Plants, at Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China. He has several peer reviewed publications and patents to his credit. He is also focusing on improving sweet sorghum plants through biotechnology. He is also the Chief Technology Officer of JOil (S) Pte Ltd.
